Why have I tested cameras for real estate photography? It is simple really this field of photography makes more money than I could have imagined.

One of best cameras for real estate photography will let you capture your property at its best.

Whether you are a hobbyist who wants to show off their property, or a budding realtor. Whatever the case, having the best cameras for real estate photography with following characteristics will set you on a path to success.

Considerations Before Buying Best Cameras for Real Estate Photography

Before purchasing best cameras for real estate photography, let us discuss purchasing considerations first.

Sensor Size

There are two types of sensors: full frame and cropped sensor.

Full-frame sensors are expensive but they produce better quality results. They are big in size and thus can fit in more information and capture more light.

On the other hand, cropped sensors are cheaper as they are small in size and capture less light.

If your photography is mainly indoors then I would recommend a full-frame sensor because lighting plays a major role in the quality of your photos.

Lens Choice

Chosen lenses will also impact the quality of your photos. For real estate photography, we have to cover everything that is spacious. I used different types of lenses but found a wide-angle lens to be the best option.

You probably need other lenses too therefore before purchasing a camera, check whether it supports different lenses or not.

Video Capabilities

In past video capability of a camera was not important. But since the pandemic, everything went virtual and so are tours of properties.

Therefore, a camera that is capable of shooting adequate video is necessary. You do not need anything high definition. Just 1080p HD with image stabilization is adequate. This will result in smooth and sharp video footage.

Many photographers including me are looking into best cameras for real estate photography for which I have tried and tested the below-reviewed cameras.

Best Cameras for Real Estate Photography

1. Panasonic Lumix G9

User Level: Professional, Beginners

What We Like About It

  • Integrated with the ring ecosystem.
  • Paired with Amazon Alexa.
  • Weather resistant.

What We Don’t Like About It

  • Local storage is not available.
  • No integration with Google Assistant and HomeKit.

Panasonic Lumix is a professional camera that is on my list of best cameras for real estate photography because of two reasons:

  1. It is able to accept over 30 LUMIX and LEICA DG lens options.
  2. Its ability to work with LUMIX 4K PHOTO (8MP, 30/60 fps) and new 6K PHOTO mode (18MP, 30 fps).

I have used this camera personally and I can say that G9 is one of best cameras for real estate photography that you can get at this price tag. If you are a fan of using 4/3rd then Lumix will end your research. It works with a prime lens to produce great image quality.

Lumix delivers best IQ in the 4/3rds family with a good selfie screen, but somewhat slightly bulky body. Have you upgraded from GX85? then you will definitely love its OLED which makes photography a fun experience.

G9 may be a thick-sized camera due to w/h/d being almost same as an APS camera, but I personally found body smaller in size. It is easier to manage because of a rather thin body where depth is in hand grip, which makes things easier to handle.

Since I used this camera in different lighting conditions, therefore in my opinion pictures delivered are of average quality. I also checked its video quality which is really impressive. Lumix has the new 2.0 firmware update which has added support of HDR/HLG and 10-bit.

Overall, G9 is a class-leading camera. While taking selfies, I liked the way my vision was not blocked when I flipped screen into selfie mode. After using Lumix G9 for almost nine months my verdict is that it is a very responsive camera, with best ergonomics, button layout, camera design and features, and EVF.

Hassle-Free And Easy To Use

Considering its body built, design, and to-the-point user interface, Panasonic Lumix is a camera that I personally found easy to use.

  • Integrated with the ring ecosystem.
  • Paired with Amazon Alexa.
  • Weather resistant.

What We Don’t Like About It

Novices can be instant photographers by using this camera. My opinion of Rebel, after using for almost two weeks, is that it’s a fun starter camera.

From five best cameras for real estate photography, I found Rebel’s close-up pretty good. Autofocus is also very great.

Being skeptical about my purchases, I was hesitant to spend my money on this camera. But the more I use it, more I love it.

Images generated by Canon were amazing all because of its 24.1MP CMOS(APS-C) sensor with a wide ISO range of 100-6400.

Photos taken in low-light conditions were also pretty awesome. By using its optical Viewfinder, I was pretty impressed by 95% viewing coverage.

Handling of T7 is very good. I like textured rubber that gives a strong grip over camera.

Flash coverage was pretty mediocre. Although 30 ft distance was covered. It only works great if the object is in 15ft range. For better results, you are going to have to use an external flash.

Three inches LCD is very bright in color, which makes it so good for me to use in bright lights.

Colors of the pictures taken were saturated enough and bright in Standard and Auto modes.

Dedicated styles are present for shooting different looks. As a real estate photographer, I take pictures in different modes. There are Portrait and Landscape styles, both of which produced great results for my clients.

Good details were captured when I tried to capture some close-ups regardless of its 18-55mm lens.

Strongly built camera

Using this camera was a great pleasure. Built of this camera is really strong. For a clumsy photographer like me, this camera works wonders because it can survive shocks pretty well.

  • No integration with Google Assistant and HomeKit.

Lots of good things were heard about FZ300 and I want to test them out myself. And there were truly some great updates made as compared to  predecessor. I found it smaller and lighter than the FZ100. Also, touch screen and EVF are much better than last model.

Loved faster and more accurate focus from first use. Also, touch focus on LCD was just  WOW! If you are an active outdoor or traveling photographer like me then it is weather resistant up to a degree given the price range.

Videos recorded by this camera are of great quality. This camera is able to record awesome videos at 4K.

No larger sensor, no higher MP, no greater than 40x zoom, but still this camera does not fail to deliver great results. Without using a tripod, I was able to capture a full moon picture and  results really surprised me.

Pictures taken in morning fog were also really sharp which was really impressive. Controls of a DSLR but weight and cost of a point and shoot camera, you can achieve all by having this camera.

After using it for quite some time, there are a few things I like the most which I would love to mention below:

  • It has ability to shoot in shutter priority, aperture priority, full auto, and full manual.
  • Built-in flash which is quite decent.
  • RAW can be shot.
  • Cold start is quick.
  • Burst photo mode that provides 30 frames per second.

Amazing Resolution

Five cameras were tested, but I found FZ300’s resolution to be the best at just 12MP. I shot more than 200 pictures with it and I did not find any resolution problems in them.

Without using a tripod, I was able to take perfect shots. No blur at all! No manual was needed and I figured out almost all the features.

As a real estate photographer, I have to take pictures of properties from indoor and outdoor as well. Indoor is easier one. But as I have mentioned earlier, I am a clumsy photographer.

Dropping cameras on  floor and even on blocks comes to me naturally. This was the reason why I wanted to test a lower-end camera. But boy! After using this camera I can say that PIXPRO is no lower-end camera by means of produced results.

Captured images are almost perfect with near to no blur. I even dropped it several times but surprisingly the camera faced my mishandling very well.

Minolta was specifically chosen because of price range. It takes clear pictures easily, and charging is very to do.

So far, this camera works terrific. I read some reviews about Minolta that it does not connect to the Wifi. Well, to be honest, I have not faced a single issue connecting to Wifi. Although an app is required to do so.

Basic real estate photography was done without any problem. Zooming to a good distance was also possible.

Consisted of a flash which is of mediocre range but this is to be expected for such a price.

By taking several photos of property, I must say that it pick-up low light areas pretty well by lighting up scene.

Clear and bright photos were provided which really pleased me.

Given the price range, a great camera overall. Pictures provided by it were all very good for beginners. Good starter camera if you are testing waters only.

Good Camera For The Money

It may be a lower-end gadget, but images and videos provided were of good quality. I wanted a camera for basic real estate photography, therefore purchasing something expensive would be a waste of money.
